California Prop 65

Big Green Organic Food includes a Prop 65 alert on certain products. This is due to a 1986 California law, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, commonly referred to as Proposition 65. This controversial regulation mandates businesses to label products containing any of over 800 chemicals, even if they occur naturally and are present in amounts well below the guidelines set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and World Health Organization (WHO). Rest assured, Big Green Organic Food is safe. However, some products carry this warning due to trace amounts of naturally-occurring lead. We do not add lead into our products. The minimal levels detected are inherent to the soils where our ingredients are cultivated. It's worth noting that nearly all agricultural items contain trace amounts of naturally-occurring heavy metals.
